A Discussion about "Red River" with Bob Swaim (La Balance, Masquerade)

In this special episode of Cineschooled, I talk with director Bob Swaim (Cesar Winning American director in Paris) about what can be learned from Howard Hawks' classic western, "Red River".

Bob Swaim has been living and working in Paris, France for over forty years. He is the writer director of the Cesar winning film “La Balance” launching the careers of so many fledgling stars in the French movie industry including Nathalie Baye and Daniel Auteil. He also has a chapter in Hollywood with the very sleek thriller “Masquerade” starring Rob Lowe and also the “The Climb “about his childhood in California in the 1950’s starring John Hurt. He is also an educator having been the head of EICAR: the International Film School of Paris for a ten year period. In this episode we talk about a film that has meant a lot to both of us, the beloved 1948 Western Red River starring John Wayne and directed by the king of story versatility, Howard Hawks.
